Such is the appeal of our development’s magnificent golf courses, the Dubai World Championship, the climax to the European Tour, will be played on the Earth Golf Course each year between November and December.
To be held annually, the tournament will be open to the leading 60 players on the ‘Race to Dubai’, formally the European Order of Merit.
The inaugural Dubai World Championship was held from 19 to 22 November 2009, and witnessed a record breaking 60,00 spectators descend upon the venue to witness English favorite Lee Westwood claiming the wining prize which was followed up by Swede Robert Karlsson walk away with winning prize in 2010.
Also, from 2009, The European Tour’s International Headquarters will be moved to Jumeirah Golf Estates. The site will not only house the administrative offices for the European Tour but also provide a world-class training and fitness facility.
With its picture perfect landscaped courses and grounds, Jumeirah Golf Estates provides a beautiful and fitting back drop for one of the most extensive golf training facilities.
Situated at the main entrance to the Fire and Earth courses, this purpose-built facility will include a number of professional features for a state-of-the-art fitness and physiotherapy center, creating a performance institute that will give the European Tour members a unique base to train at any time throughout the year
